The best way to lower gasoline and diesel prices is to do what Maria is doing. You see Maria is voting with her dollar. If everyone did that, the problem will be solved. Some say that the Oil Companies are manipulating supply, well then the consumer has a lever too then, it is called demand. If you and everyone is concerned with fuel prices, then buy less of it and then the demand will be less and the supply greater and the price lower; you see?
What is a good price for full economic vitality? Well we need prices back to $1.35 for diesel for our transportation sector and to prevent artificial inflation, but that will not happen now. We must work to get them there. We must find new sources closer to home, build more refineries, pipelines and invest.
These prices are tough on many businesses in all sectors and that means jobs, lay offs, foreclosures, small business failures and downturn in the business cycle. But we may all be to blame for our lack of ability to control the lawsuits, junk science and run-away hypocrisy or environmental activism. Additionally we are to blame in a way for the over regulation.
The cost to get an EIR (environmental impact report) and draw up the plans for a refinery is 250-400 million dollars. Worse are those who live in the Northwest for their natural gas, they are in a world of hurt, double whammy; Oil and gasoline, now natural gas for heating? Energy costs and economics concern us all and we ought to look at the cause and affect, rather than playing blame game on the entrepreneurs, capitalists and corporations which have built and delivered everything we see everywhere we go and provided us the means to get there in the first place. Think people.
